Course Information:

The Alberta Trappers’ Association Trapper Education Program provides the Standard Trapping course, as well as numerous workshops and presentations to schools and other interested groups year round throughout the province.

The Standard Trapping course is your first step toward becoming a trapper. The course includes instruction on the safe use of traps and other equipment, biology of furbearers, animal management, marketing and grading of furs, skinning and fur handling, as well as humane trapping techniques.

The minimum age to take the course is 12, however, an adult in attendance must be assigned responsibility for any student under the age of 18.

The cost of the course is $399.00 and includes the Trapper Education Manual.

This does NOT include your lodging and meals - this is arranged and paid for by your own preference

Courses Run Friday, Saturday and Sunday

There is a minimum of 10 participants required to hold a course

 STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE:

If a course or workshop is listed at “Dapp”

Courses and workshops listed at “Dapp” means that the program is being held at

our new trapline half an hour north of our main offices here in Westlock.

Teen Time Ranch offers rooms, cabins, duplex units, or dorm rooms for students and instructors.

This lodging is located on the east side of our new trapline.

The accommodation and meals are much cheaper than can be found in Westlock and saves traveling costs each day. It also allows the students to immerse themselves in the world of Trapping and Bushcraft.

There is a lake right out the door and a fire pit for everyone in the evenings. We often have demonstrations and continued discussion around trapping etc., in the evenings for those that are interested.

This will save students money and travel time during the program. We are excited to be able to partner with Teen Time and offer this to all our students.

Please contact Julia at Teen Time Ranch to arrange your stay and meals. The number is

780-954-2432. They look after your stay.

You must still register for your course at the ATA by calling 780-349-6626. Visit our website at www. albertatrappers.com to download registration forms.
