Hide Processing Workshop

Simple, but not easy to produce. Rawhide is useful for Clothing, Shoes, Containers, Glue, Musical Instruments etc. Endless practical uses for Rawhide

Course Outline

Working rawhide gives us a unique view into the world of our ancestors and strengthens our connection to our own natural resources.

So many hides are left in the bush or brought home and left for years in the freezer after hunting season.

After completing the hides, you can then decide if you want to use them for tanning into buckskin leather or use raw or even ship to be tanned commercially

The course includes:

  • This hands on workshop guides you through each step in creating a Deer, Elk or Moose rawhide

  • This can be used in traditional crafts

  • Turned into leather

  • Stored for later use
